Purpose of Document

This is an abbreviated Terms of Service. It is not intended to replace the full Terms of Service, but it is included because we feel it is important that these points be made explicitly and plainly so parents can more easily review and understand them.

Linking to Other Sites

KidDotComs links to content on third-party web sites. While we review all links before making them available and continue to review them on an ongoing basis, any given third-party site may change to have content that is unacceptable to a parent. We encourage parents to be actively involved with their children's online activities.

Location of Computer

We suggest the following things to help protect children:

  • Don't let children have a computer in their own room.
  • Place the family computer (that the children use) in a family area that is in open view and frequently passed.
  • When your child starts visiting a new site, sit with him or her and help them learn to navigate it.

Children need supervision not because they may seek out objectionable material, but because they are still learning and are ignorant of the dangers and realities of today's society.

Content on Linked Sites

KidDotComs makes every effort to provide a quality service that parents can count on for finding and managing lists of web sites that are safe and fun for kids. Regardless of our efforts, KidDotComs cannot be held liable for the content or activities on linked web sites. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • advertising
  • games
  • music or other audio
  • images
  • articles or text
  • links from linked sites to other sites
  • community sites
  • chat interfaces

KidDotComs will not prevent your child from the following:

  • Printing pages or content they created.
  • Using a chat interface in a third-party web site.
  • Sending e-mail through the third-party web site.
  • Using the browser's address bar to visit sites outside their profile.
  • Clicking on advertising links.
  • Following links on third-party web sites that lead to other sites not available in KidDotComs.
  • Damaging the computer or software programs on the computer.
  • Downloading and installing software found on other web sites.

For information and recommendations on how to prevent or limit some of these, see the Resources page in the members section. KidDotComs cannot guarentee the fitness or quality of any recommended third-party products as they may change frequently.
